Dr. Wesley graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences in 2009. He then attended the University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Dentistry where he graduated with honors in 2014, earning his D.D.S. His education continued at Detroit Mercy until he completed his Orthodontic specialty program and earned an M.S. in Orthodontics in 2016. During his time in Detroit Mercy’s Orthodontic program, he completed his thesis that dealt with TMJ, condylar morphology, and cone beam computed tomography. This experience greatly broadened his knowledge of the gnathologic system.
Dr Wesley is a committed lifelong student! He has logged over 70 hours of continuing education credits in this past year alone. His orthodontic interest are focused on advancing technologies and any topic that involves treating the person as a whole (beyond the smile!). This includes airway-friendly treatment, temporomandibular joint management, and soft tissue management.
Why an Orthodontist in Clinton Township?
Orthodontist vs. Dentist
An orthodontist is a dentist, but a dentist is not an Orthodontist. All orthodontists are dentists first, but though not every dentist has the qualifications to be an orthodontist. Dr. Wesley continued his formal education for 2 or 3 additional years before receiving the necessary license and certification. As an orthodontist, Dr. Wesley has spent years studying nothing but how and why to move teeth. This includes what to do, how to plan, and how to execute the appropriate treatment plan.
